What the font?!

Ever seen a font that you really liked, and wondered how you could find it?

I had been trying for a while to identify a font from a logo, and finally discovered the answer in What the font?!

All you have to do is upload an image of the font, identify a few letters, and presto - it names your font. In my case, at least, it got it right too.

Netbooks - have I just spotted "The One"?

Typical - I finally got round to starting a techie blog, and have just found out that Asus are shortly to be launching a new EEE PC with a 9.5 hour battery life.

I have been eyeing up netbook deals for a while, and have a sneaking suspicion that this might be "The One" when it launches. Asus EEE PC 1000HE

It will be interesting to read a few more reviews and find out if it's really as good as it sounds.

Cloud computing, and the reason behind the blog naming

It's just occurred to me that "Girl In the Cloud" is a bit of a strange name for a blog, so let me explain.

In my current line of work, I am very much exposed to all that's new in the technology arena, and am learning a lot about hosted / cloud computing solutions at the moment. We are rapidly moving towards a hosted world where servers and on-site infrastructure will no longer be something which the average organisation needs to spend money on or concern themselves with. Microsoft are investing heavily in their Azure platform and other hosted services, as are Google, Amazon, Salesforce et al.

So, girl in the cloud it is. Or will be very soon, at any rate.

Intro

Hello World! Well, that's one way to start a techie-ish blog I guess ;)

Recently I seem to have stumbled across a whole world of useful links and articles, and thought it would be useful to keep a note them online, leaving a trail of history for all to see.

I expect to blog a reasonable number of links and comments relating to goings-on in the CRM world, especially updates and commentary relating to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 and related technologies as this is my current area of employment.
